35" all terrains - better with 20", 18 or 16" wheels

as played out as they may be, I'm thinking of a partly black wheel with 35" BFG allterrains. what do you think is a good rim size?

all black 2nd gen dodge extcab
5" susp lift
only chrome are the bumpers and the grill and it probably wont stay that way for long.

35s on 20"

35's and 18"

35s on 16"

35s on 17"

no idea what this one is but I like it. I think I like the flares also.

what is a good backspacing to not have alot of tire hanging out? 1" or so isn't bad.

yea, no doubt a good look.

It has 16" micky thompson classic on it, maybe I'll paint them black, buy 315s and roll it for a good while.

I love my 20's, but you will get a smoother ride with a smaller wheel and more sidewall. Drive a few with different options and decide from there.

I guess it also depends if you want to spend an extra 200+ on tires everytime.

If you use your truck on and off road the rule of thumb I was always taught was that the rim size should be half of the tires size. So for a 35 is go with a 17 or 18. If your just going to be on the road go with the 20

If you plan on much rock crawling, go with 17s. If you're just going to play on dirt roads occasionally (and want to pay the difference) get 20s.

I completely missed this thread but I agree with Dave. 20's just look out of place on our 2nd gens. Plasti-dip the classics black till you find a set of wheels you really like then go with them

I'd say 16's or 17's. No larger than that. Idk why...but not feeling the 20's on your truck.
