Hi, I'm pretty new to this forum but I have a question for you guys.

I have a 2001 CTD 4x4 with the polished 17" Alcoas and 33" tires. I am looking at a 2001 5.2L 4x4 1500. I would like to find some 3rd Gen 17" wheels and do the same on this truck. I understand that there can be a problem with 3rd gen wheels seating on the Dana 44 axle hub.

Let's see some pictures of your 2nd Gen 1500 4x4s with 3rd Gen wheels and I'm glad to hear about their fitment onto the axle hub.

Thanks

I actually spun a set of third gen wheels on mine for a while. Still got 'em sitting out in the barn actually. I just decided that I liked my American Racing better in the end.

From what I remember, there were no fitment issues. Actually, the rims fit the hub perfectly. I don't think that I have any pictures anymore but if I can dig one up, I'll post it.

1500 to 2500 might be a problem unless the number of lugs are the same.

Most 1500 wheels are 5 lug, 2500's came with 8 lug.

I HAVE a 2001 CTD with Gen 3 Alcoas. I'm LOOKING at a 2001 318 4x4 with stock 16" wheels. I want to put some 17" 5x5.5 bolt pattern wheels from a 3rd Gen onto the gas 318 4x4 truck.

There are always plenty of wheels on Craig's but there are some that have trouble seating onto a 2001 and earlier Dana 44. This is what I have deduced after googling the internet.

Just wondering what you guys are running.

Thanks

OK. It wasn't clear to me that you were looking for wheels for the 1/2T. I sorta read it as you were looking for wheels from a 1/2T to put on your CTD and we know that won't work.

The hub diameter for 4x4 trucks won't be a problem between the generations and the lug pattern is the same.

Hope it helps in some way.

I ended up buying these off of an '08 for $350. Came with the centers and the lug nuts. I'm going to need a different set of 1/2" lugs though. The tires are usable for the summer but I will need some newer ones later.

And they are going on this with 285.70 R 17. They're what I have on my 2001 CTD and they only throw the speedo off by about 4 mph. I'm going to put a 2" level on it with some Bilstien 5100s.
