Ok, i bought a truck off my work really cheap, its a 99 ram 3500 24v 4x4 and is a reg cab utility at the moment. It has the dodge rust issues, so i was looking into getting a new bed, not a utility bed, and fixing the cab. but now i measured everything and its not a reg cab long bed that they put a utility body on, its a cab and chassis that has a 163.5 inch wheel base. the bed itself is 11 ft long. does anyone know if its possible to get a regular cab and bed to fit on the frame? Or should i just sell the damn thing as a work truck.

How good are you with fabbing? You could get two beds, an 8ft and a 6.5ft, chop the bulkhead off the 8 footer, and cut a section out of the 6.5 footer so it matches, weld them together and have a custom 11ft bed. :D

I think it would be badass. lol
I think money wise it might be cheaper and safer since the only other option besides selling is to chop the frame, and when you do that EVERYTHING has to be shortened.

You're on your own for that. lol Check Craigslist frequently. Unfortunately, I don't think you're going to get much for the service body itself, unless you live in an area where guys are actually voluntarily putting service bodies on their trucks. lol

I think an extended cab and 8ft bed would fit that frame. If you're up for a body swap, that would be the direction I would go.

It would still have a gap as the wheel base on a 3500 Quad Cab LWB is 154.7in and this truck is a 163.5.

Polish that **** and sell her. You will get a heck of a lot more than you paid for it being a 4wd Diesel. Just my 2c. :)

Didn't you get it for free or next to nothing?

You could probably get at least 3 grand out of it. Less since it has a service bed and is a C/C truck.

Picked it up for $1400 because my boss thought it didn't run at all, was sitting in the dump for 2 years (hence the tall grass) and after dropping 2 good batteries in to fired right up and drove like a champ. only 3 grand? figure a diesel work truck would be worth more than that. the motor and rebuilt tranny should pull a few k

Yeah, that's right. lool He lost out on a good truck.

Well idk, there aren't many that pop up around my area so I'm having to go on memory. Check your local Craigslist.

seems like no work trucks on CL, but all the diesels were in the 9k range. all with more miles than mine. guess i gotta look into prices, or look into bed fabrication.

No work trucks on CL means one of two things: No one wants them, or everyone wants them.

good point haha. KBB says a **** truck is worth at least 7k. and there is a lot of landscaping here with all the senior developments and rich old people. this truck with a trailer would probably go quick and for a good price. if only it was a quad cab *sigh*... i think I'm going to look into getting a bed though.
