comrades!

i am retiring a 2002 dodge cummins work truck to a plow truck.

anyone have any input on chaining up the truck for plowing?

i have read some newer trucks cannot be chained up on certain axles etc. - brake line issues etc...

my current 86 k5 blazer is dead, so hence the need for another plow.

cheers! thanks in advance for info/opinions.

Tire chains are safe to use on these vehicles, just make sure you properly set the chains on the tires. I've seen more damage due to improperly installed snow chains than properly installed chains on vehicles not designed for them.

On the front wheels there is a single rubber line running to each tire if you only have rear wheel ABS, if you have 4wheel ABS then there is a wire as well. The rear wheels have a parking brake cable running to the backside of the drum and the brake line is all steel and runs along the axle.

As long as you get them decently tight you'll be fine.
