Well I need new tires so I am getting new rims ... Same rims as what I have now but I dont know if the rims I have now are the same size as the new ones .
I need the wheel to stick out . These are the specs on the rim I am thinking about buying .. remember same rim as I have now minus the pitting ect

Size: 16x8
Offset: -6mm
Backspacing: 4.25"
Bolt Pattern: 8-165

Is this the same spec I have now ya think ?

Or do I get the same rim I have now but in black ?

Go to discount tire and have them measure the back spacing and rim width.

oops

You can measure the width and backspace yourself. The width is pretty straight forward. For the backspace, measure from the inside of the hub to the inner edge of the rim.

dave, i would venture to guess that the specs you listed are the same as the wheels on your truck.

powdercoat seems like a good option and then the spacers to kick them out a bit

How to Measure Wheel BackSpace
tech-backspace.gif

Items required to measure wheel backspace:
Tape measure
Straight edge
Wheel w/o tire (preferred)
The easiest way to measure backspace is to lay the wheel face down onto the ground so the backside of the wheel is facing up. Take a straight edge and lay it diagonally across the inboard flange of the wheel. Take a tape measure and measure the distance from where the straight edge contacts the inboard flange to the hub mounting pad of the wheel. This measurement is backspace. The above photo shows three wheels with 2",3", & 4" backspace.

Measuring Wheel Offset
tech-wheelfit1.gif

To calculate offset you'll need the following measurements:

Wheel backspace
Wheel Width
Wheel Center line (outboard flange to inboard flange measurement / 2)
Subtract:

Wheel center line from Wheel backspace to get offset.
If backspace is less than the wheel centerline the offset is negative
If backspace is greater than the wheel centerline the offset is positive
Tip:

To convert from inches to mm multiply by 25.4
To convert from mm to inches divide by 25.4

I am not a fan of wheel spacers myself. It puts too much streign on the studs.

I've always heard that too. And I believed it for years.

Then I got to thinking that I've never actually met anyone that had a set fail. Not even the crappy cast aluminum ones. I have heard lots of internet stories about friends-of-friends and I-knew-a-guys, but not one actual reported failure on a forum in six years.

I have been running a set (a quality machined set) for three years. I tow, offroad, take multi state highway trips... No problems. I check my spacers every 3k when I rotate my tires and not a sign of a problem.

I heard the same kind of you'll-die-in-a-fiery-crash stories when I installed my bodylift 5 years ago too. I think it goes back to the days of hotrodding in the 70s and 80s when bodylifts were made from hockey pucks and spacers were from holes drilled in whatever old piece of metal could be fun. No engineering involved in those days.

i once used 1-1/2" spacers and had nothing but problems with them. I had studs snapping, studs spinning in the spacers.....could have been a bad batch steel that the studs were made of. Several times couldn't get the wheel off and the last time had to have 2 wheels ruined basically because they had to torch the lug nut off.

However since then I have run 1/4" spacers with no issues...LOL

I should have been clear that I wasn't talking about the big 1.5" ones that have their own studs built in. I am running a set of 1/2" machined aluminum spacers.

I just went ahead and ordered the same rims as I have now on the truck . Same size and all . Wrapped them in Kumho MT's and called it a day .. they will be here on Friday .

The old 35's and rims are going to Tony for his truck . Minus the rims ... he will have them for sale

So in a nut shell I am crazy ... Taking off the same rim and tire package I have now and throwing on the exact combo just new .
