I would like to mount a tow ball on the original bumper, but I fear that the bumper can break, can be mounted or is dangerous ?

Yes they can be mounted to the bumper, you just don't get the towing capacity with having the hitch.

In my opinion if you are going to be towing anything more than a light lawnmower trailer don't pull from the bumper. Too unreliable. That's just my opinion. If you are towing a car I would use a frame hitch. Greater towing capacity and better control. Not to mention pulling from the bumper if you get the trailer in an odd angle it can really mess up your bumper. But this is only my opinion.

Are talking with using just a tow strap to move the vehicles?

If so I would just go off the frame with it. You could one of these to mount in place of a ball to attach the tow strap too, but again would be best to attach to the frame

Depends on what you are pulling. There are all kinds of holes and brackets that you could use. I may have miss read your post now that luke mentioned it. If you are recovering a vehicle frame, frame, frame. You will most likely rip the bumper right off if you try to pull from it. Usually anywhere on the fram is a good idea as long as there isn't a chance of the strap or chains getting bound up in any way.

If you are going to be using it like that most defintly use the frame. A few good jerks with a chain or strap will rip the bumper right off and send chain, strap, or bumper parts flying. Usually there are some bolt holes in the frame where you can attach a clevis like what luke posted. Then you can just leave it attached. A 10000# or larger should do you ok. And be sure to use a recovery strap. I just had a chain break on me and dented my tailgate.

If no one else gets some before me I'll take some pics to show you where I would put it. Do keep in mind that a reciever hitch is one of the best things to use. attaches to the frame and gives you a mounting point for all kinds of things. So If you can afford it I suggest that. But I'll try to get pics when I get home from work.

I do recommend getting a reciever hitch. But you can use any of the holes in the frame
