I have a 1996 ram 1500 iv had it about a year and the vents haven't worked. It's always blown from defrost only, doesn't matter what you have to control on, if I'm parked or driving just comes out defrost. Heat and ac both work what could be the problem to get my vents working?? Thanks!!

The system uses engine vacuum to move the mechanism that directs the flow of air and low vacuum (IOW there's a leak) will leave it stuck on defrost.

I'm having the same problem. I checked all of the vacuum lines in the cab and they were connected. I'm going to check the lines under the hood later tonight, hopefully I find the solution. If I do I will post.

I have not checked them out but there are supposed to be some good videos on Youtube that talk you through finding and repairing issues with this system.
