Hey guys. I have a cheap T-handle shifter in my truck now, but i cant say i really like it too much so im thinkin of doin the black Hurst pistol grip ($60) but i was wondering if any of you guys knew what threads are on the stick in a 99 ram 1500 5 speed. I know most of your trucks are autos, but if anyone could help me thatd be great. And if anyone even has any ideas for a shifter, let me know! I mean $60 is a little much for just a shifter, so if i could even make a nice shifter out of something thatd be cool. Id like to have something a little unique if i could... lol

not sure on your threads sorry bud.

I am going to be making custom acrylic ones for my automatic. I have the acrylic, just need to get to my cousins to use the lathe.

I've seen some cool ones made out of skoal cans. You can make a shift knob out of anything really. I did one with a pabst can by filling it wit resin, drilled a hole in the bottom that I inserted a nut into then thread it on.

Im not sure what i want to do lol i thought about using a wrench, tried using a connecting rod with the wrist pin in it out of a kohler motor, but it wasnt very comfortable and it stuck up too high lol it did look pretty sweet though.

lmao thats so badass !! Ive been looking around on the interent now, and ive seen a few guys do the Eaton Fuller shift knob in their Cummins's and im thinking about doin it in my gas job lol itll work the same way though bc its the same shifter as the cummins has, im just not sure about the angle of it with the stick bc it comes straight up. I might have to consider bending it a little bit..

If you use just the knob it should fit with only minor modifications.

Yeah, ive seen a few now in trucks with the straight stick like mine and they fit real nice. just gotta use a thread adapter and thats about it, so it should go pretty smoothly.

Yeah I googled it and saw both straight and bent sticks with them.

From what ive found they both have the same size stick threads between the cummins and gas trucks i think. i could be wrong, but im pretty sure lol ill do some more researching though.
