Instrument Cluster Question

Ok as some of you may remember, I pulled the face plate off of my cluster to mess with the led lights a couple weeks ago. Well, I kinda ripped it in a few places and the gauges are still not 100%. Basically it looks like hell. So that comes to my question, if I order one exactly like mine for an 01, will it read the mileage off my truck or will it be some other trucks mileage. Let me remind you it is digital, not a manual rotating one. Thanks

I dont think so, the mileage is not stored in the computer like the newer trucks.

If I recal right there is a chip on the cluster that stores your mileage. You may be able to swap the chips but Im not sure. I'll check it more when I get back to the house.

lol I have heard talk about swapping the chip but I have never even looked into it. So how come you are the 2nd gen guinea pig???

From what I have heard its a plug and play chip but you may have to google it to know for sure.
