Leather Seat Swap 2000 ex cab 1500

Going to switch my "carpet" interior for the "leather" grey seats, From someone who already has these seats is it true only the part our backs would touch is leather? I've read the rest is vinyl... how true is this?

Will post pics upon completion have to pull seats from upullit still. :superhack:

Got all the seats except driver seat from the local picknpull. have to try and find a good condition driver seat, was $100 for all other seats though. :favorites13:

May look online or if anyone goes to the upullit in their town. let me know if anyone finds the blk leather driver seat, I need one. :naughty:

It's not going to be easy to find a good shape drivers seat, I've tried most of the junkyards around DFW and haven't found any without at least one rip. You might end up having to get a decent one and recover the bottom. I'm considering getting this 1998 1999 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Driver Side Bottom Leather Seat Cover Dark Gray | eBay and redoing mine. If I do I'll make a thread with pics

Yeah I saw the stuff on ebay $300 for top $205 for bottom. A tad pricey for me,
I ended up finding one in decent condition at another local yard.
The problem with it the top had a large amount of paint on it, I've already cleaned most of it off. What I also found out was that you can undo the passenger side bottom of seat(4 10mm bolts) and put it on driver side{essentially swap passenger and driver bottom cushion w/ upholstery on it}. I will post pics upon my completion.

My total cost for parts $125.87

Got the driver seat cleaned up and installed. removed old carpet upholstery from seat foam and pulled the leather on. the bottom of driver seat is actually a passenger bottom cushion the mounts are the same.

I've givin some serious thought this week to the fact that I might actually get rid of my leather and go cloth. I have heated seats, but I'm thinking cloth with my heated and adding a cooling set-up because the seats down here get HOT!

yes they do get hot, the cooling setup would be nice I agree. I wouldn't doubt you could go to junk yard and get all good condition matching clothe for your truck for under $150. or maybe even just find someone whod want to swap?
