so since I have been riding around without a radio I have realized how unsound proof my cab is, and how much exterior noise makes it in.

what is gonna be the best approach to sound proofing the cab?

a lay on sound deadening material or a lizard skin/homemade lizard skin spray on?

I think I am gonna start by doing the doors, and back panel. if that doesn't suffice, I suppose ill drop the liner, and pull the floor up as well.

Thanks

Sounds like you've got it figured out! Strip it and either spray it or lay it. Do the door skins as well!

The back of the outside! Make sense? lol. Just washing it I notice a HUGE difference on my G8. All the tinny noise is gone.

how many sq. ft. do you think 2 full doors and 2 extended cab doors, and back panel are?

I had heard that the spray can stink, but have no experience with it. I bought a HUGE roll of the aluminum backed stuff from a place online. It's just like dynamat, but MUCH cheaper. I wish I could remember where I got it, but it was 4 years ago. It worked great!

hmm...yeah if anyone could point me in the direction of some mat that is cheap for some bulk I wouldnt mind sticking it on.

Anyone have a brand they used that they got a lot for not very much $$?

Also, anyone have any idea on the sq footage I need?

hey chewy just wanted to run something by ya, hope you catch this post.

I contacted RAAMaudio and got his opinon on how much material he thought I needed to follow his how to instructions and do the front, ext doors, rear, and possibly kick panels, and he suggested I would need package 2 Package # 2 -------- 30 Sheets of RAAMmat BXT II (56.25 sq ft) and 4 1/2 yards of Ensolite IUO Peel and Stick Foam (62.43 sq ft) - RAAMaudio Inc. which is close to about 110 sq ft of material. 55 of the matt, and about 62 of the material that goes over the top of the mat.

Would you agree with him? Seems like a lot of material to me lol

I'd do some basic measuring of the cab to get you close. More is better of course! lol.

The stuff I got came in a huge 50ft roll I believe.

The stuff I got was in a 50' roll too. I got 3 rolls. Used 1.5 roll in an Ex Cab Dakota. That being said I used like 3 layers on the floor boards, and also did a layer on the ceiling. I went a bit overkill, but it WAS quiet!
