I've got a 02 Ram 2500 w/360, and I'm having an issue with the heat. Everything works, but it only blows hot air when I give it gas. At idle, the air isn't warm, but it isn't cold. The more gas you give it, the hotter it gets. Coolant temp is normal (180-190). Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks. The more I mess with it and check things, the more it's pointing to the water pump.

See anything leaking from the pump? When mine went there was a small leak that leaked on the belt. There was also play in the pump wheel. I'd take your belt off and give the wheel a few tugs to see how it feels

I haven't seen anything leaking yet. But I will try that. Thanks!

UPDATE:Just replaced the thermostat, just for ***** and giggles, since I had $20 on my autozone card. Nice hot air at idle, and roasts me out of the truck lol. So I don't know if it was opening just enough to keep the motor cool, and not feed the rest of the system, or what. But I don't care, it's working.

Kinda wonder if that's what causing the barely no heat issue in mine. I have an '03 Ram 1500 4.7, and I barely get any heat. Even with the heater blasting and the temperature set to the hottest setting, I only get warm air. And more gas or different speeds don't help any.
