when i turn the key on the dash lights blink but engine will not turn over any ideas on what is wrong i had the starter checked and is ok

Does it do it all the time or if there is moisture in the air (humid day or raining). It could either be your ignition coil or crank position sensor that has gone bad.

its sounding like a neutral safety switch malfunction.. try starting the truck in neutral... ive had that happen before in my 85
I would check for a problem with your ground. My 98 has a weak ground and sometimes when I go to start her as soon as I turn the key everything just shuts off and I have to get out and shake the battery cables. Good luck
