I am looking for a used transmission for my
truck. I changed pressure sensor and
solenoids but it too far gone. Pan bent etc.
Also i tryed to replace filter with auto part
replacement but dident fit. Finally we
matched the right one which was listed out
of a dakota 94 to 02. I called alot of salvage
yards and they said the only transmission
that will fit is a ram 5.9 2000 thru 2002.
Where can i find if that is true? Ive done alot
of searching to no prevail. Im guessing
mine has a tranny out of dakota? I bought
truck used with tranny problems.. please
help!

Your truck should have a 46re auto tranny in it. You can use one from 96 up, If you get one under 98 (I think) you will have to change out the tranny wiring harness so it matches your year. Make sure you flush the tranny cooler and lines before you install the rebuilt tranny, also you should be getting a new torq converter as the old one will be full of gunk and that will kill your tranny. Make sure the torq converter is for the 5.9.

So im guessing that the reason they say 2000 to 2002 is because of the wireing only? And thanks for the reply
