2001 Ram 1500 with 3.2L V6

I have a 2001 Ram 1500 and was looking to buy a new or remanufactured motor for it. I bought it new with a 3.2L V6, but all the websights I visited only listed a 3.9L V6. I am really looking to upgrade to the 5.2L V8, but found this very curious. After decoding the VIN, it has the code for the 3.9L but it's a 3.2L under the hood. Can someone shed any light on this for me?

What makes you think a 3.2 motor is in it ? I only know of the 3.9 v6.

Um....sorry. But if you bought it new, it could only have a 3.9 in it.

The 3.9 was the only v6 offered for these trucks. In 02 they changed over to the 3.7 but those are the only two v6's they used in these trucks until later on in the fourth gen. Even first gen trucks had a la version of the 3.9. No four cylinders, so it has to be a 3.9.

Guess the mechanic was wrong, still a very weak motor. With any luck if I get a good refund this year I still want to swap it out.

i would for sure swap in a 5.2 if i was you. i drove a 3.9 a few years ago and it was pathetic!

You'll need a trans too as they do not use the same trans.
