5.2 to 5.9 engine swap?

5.2 on 1997 ram 4x4 is blown but have a 1996 sport with 5.9. what else needs to be swapped or just the engine?

On the 2w drive all you have to change is the torque converter I believe, should be the same for the 4x4.

I remember something about the flex plate and harmonic balancer, something about one being balanced for one but not the other..

I think the 5.2 is internally balanced and the 5.9 is external. Just keep the flex plate from the 5.9 with the engine and you should be fine. Don't use the one off the 5.2.

dependant on the years on how the balancing was done.. If it was me i would purchase a new tc for the 5.9 and use all the same flex plate and balancers.. so that will take care of the balancing... also some year of one engine (can't remember which years or engine..) had an egr as far as I know that is the only wiring difference... Please do a write up to help others when youre done.. little things like that help so many others :) good luck bud
