Dapepper makes a good point. I just assumed it was a base model truck without the AC at all. If it has the spot for the compressor you'll have to get an AC idler pulley with a stock length belt

Duralast Serpentine Belt 973K7 - Read Reviews on Duralast Serpentine #973K7

Dorman A/C Compressor Bypass Pulley 34178 - Read Reviews on Dorman #34178

Or I think some guys run a 92 or 93in belt/ I'm not sure on that one, I think Yeret did that at one point, he might know. You might find the right thread by using the advance search function.

Skip the bypass pulley, they like to grenade. Also like to come in incomplete kits.

89.5" fan. I forget the part number and mine has worn off. I can dig it up later tonight

Ok . so this truck did have have factory Ac. It was removed by the PO. He said he used a shorter belt to compensate. Will I be able to make it work?I don't have the shorter belt.

Yeah it'll work, just get the shorter belt. Dapepper mentioned 89.5" i'll defer to his judgement on that one. Any auto parts store will be able to get you belt based on belt length.

Ya thanks for the info. So I,m heading back to the wreckers before the truck goes to the crusher. I need the plastic windshield cowl, this project is missing that part. Obviously the wipers need to come off, what else holds it in place? I just want to go equipped with the right tools. Thanks.

(1) Open hood.
(2) Remove wiper arms.
(3) Disconnect windshield washer tubing from coupling near left hood hinge.
(4) Remove plastic nuts attaching cowl cover to cowl.
(5) Pull cowl seal from flange on front of

To remove the wiper arms:

(1) Unlatch and open the hood.
(2) Lift the wiper arm far enough to raise the wiper blade off of the glass and permit the wiper arm latch plate to be pulled out to its holding position, then release the arm. The wiper arm and blade will remain off the glass with the latch in this position.
CAUTION: The use of a screwdriver or other prying tool to remove a wiper arm may distort it. This distortion could allow the arm to come off of the wiper pivot during wiper operation, regardless of how carefully it is reinstalled.
(3) Using a slight rocking motion, remove the wiper arm pivot end from the wiper pivot.

So I have another ?. When I pulled the windshield cowl off, there is a black box on the passenger side just below the windsheld under the plastic cowl. It has a vacume line running to it. What it for? Thanks again.

If you want vent selection to work, yes. the vents change position from defrost to any of the other settings using vacuum.

It goes to a spot under the body of the truck, kinda in the wheel well and forward of the door. Bog connector there that runs to some interior things and rear end for taillights and stuff

Just so everyone knows. All the wiring that drops down behind the engine goes to the trans and 2 o2sensors. Also I got this new to me harness from a 4x4 2500 with 5.9.

So heres how I got rid of the AC, I took the braket to work and cut the chunk off that the compressor sits on. Got a 92" belt and its done. This truck is almost ready to run again. Its been a big job, but worth it I hope.

So when I went to get the truck fired up for the first time all it would do is crank and crank, no start. Then I discovered I missed a connection at the back. It was a 3 wire connector that went into the bellhousing, hooked it up and the truck fired right up. What would be going into that area.

So now that it runs I need to adjust the fuel pressure cause this thing has an external electric fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator. How much pressure does a stock 360 run. And how to check it?

That is the crank position sensor, and it will keep just about everything from happening.

As far as the fuel pressure. It should be 50 psi at the fuel rail, give or take 5psi.
