When replacing a computer with a "pre-programmed" computer do you have to do anything besides just plugging it in and starting the engine?

Yes. You need to make sure you get the VIN and mileage programed in to the new computer. Depending on where you ordered it from this may already be entered into the new device if you gave them the proper information.

Also, make sure you disconnect the battery before plugging the replacement computer in.

"Pre-programmed" computer was purchased from the local "Napa" parts store. Curious as to why mileage has to be entered? Yes battery was disconnected before new computer was plugged in.

Mileage should only pertain to the cluster. Unless its stored in the PCM and sent to the cluster over the bus.
