So I have a 97 2500 4x4 with a 360. I have been quoted a price of 8,000 to swap a 93 6bt with new transmission with on it. The engine has 150,000 miles on it. My question is that is it about the right price I should be paying? Comes with all new seals, the KDP is fixed and I keep my AC and heat. Some guy's on the job say it's a pretty damn good price.

If that is including the price of the engine and trans, then that really isn't horrible.

You are looking at about $1500-$2000 for the engine and another $2000 for the transmission.

Are you doing anything aftermarket? Or is it all stock?

Not for nothing but you can buy a factory correct diesel for 10k... the extra 2k is worth it to avoid the "what ifs" in my opinion.

I'm still buying a used truck that I'm gonna have to dump money into for whatever is wrong with it anyways. It's hard to find a good stock 2nd gen for 10,000 that hasn't been riced out and dogged to **** with under 200,000 miles

Nah. They are out there. Just be patient. Further. That price is about $2000 too high. You could buy he parts truck and DIY for about $4000. So buy the truck and the pay $2000 for an install. That's gonna save you a few bills. Or don't. Your change, easier to spend someone else's money

Yeah he said 5000$ for labor. I thought that was a little high...I mean it is a dodge already not a Ford or Chevy. I would love to do it myself but I pretty much stay gone from home. This guy is Turbo Matts in Florida. Does any one on this forum do swaps like this?
