My son has a 97 1500 with a 5.2 engine. Auto trans 4WD. When the ignition is turned on, the temperature gauge pegs all the way hot. I unplugged the temp sensor and nothing changed. This has been going on for a month. I have read conflicting info as to if it's wiring faults or a bad sensor. I wouldn't normally be concerned but his radiator blew out the other day and I can't tell if it's over heating after we replaced the radiator.

97 has 2 temp sensors. 1 with 2 wires and another with 1 wire. I believe the 1 wire is the one for the gauge if i remember correctly. Id start by replacing that
