So I caught the exhaust bug too!! On wednesday I will be getting my new exhaust done. Gonna do a couple sound clips to share later. Gonna cost $300 for a full one off cat back exhaust.

So the idea is to remove my flowmaster rotted out system and put in all new pipe from the Cat back. SO my new exhaust will be less restrictive and hope it sounds awesome. Path is headers to ypipe to cat. Then from cat to custom Y to 2 1/2 aluminized tubing custom bent to my truck finished off with 2 45*Stainless steel rolled tips out the back. I can't wait to get it done!! So what do you all think??

My tips:

It shouldn't be too loud. When I was getting my muffler welded in, I started it with basically a straight pipe and it wasn't loud at all. This was stock manifolds, y and cat though

Hahah I could be wrong but I know I had to close my cut out while towing when I had it. But my cutout was also 2 inches from the rear of my cab on the passenger side.

That could be the difference. I have been told it will be loud and I've been told it won't have much drone to it in the cab so only time will tell. Exhaust will be done wed. Pick up the trailer on thurs and load it and leave on friday. Got a busy week next week.

can you even have straight pipes leagally in your state? I belive in NY you can because you have to pass an emissions test. My other dodge's mullfer rusted out and the pipe broke so for a day i had to drive it straight piped and it was awesome haha lots of elderly people giving me bad looks !

I run full straight pipes on my 98 Ram, 2" pipe from the manifolds all the way to the back bumper, I actually kept the factory headpipes, and just cut them at the point where each one went into the cat, welded new exhaust pipes and tailpipes onto those, and put both out to the one side where the stock single had exited in front of the rear bumper. I just did this because the frame and floor already had the cutout and groove for the exhaust on that side, and wanted the pipes tucked up neatly in the stock location so there would be no issues with a low hanging pipe during off road excursions. You wouldn't believe all the people who stop me and say how great it sounds and ask me what I did to it. many are surprised to learn there's no mufflers or cats at all. It's actually not too loud during idle or cruising, but acellerating hard will sure turn some heads. Lots of friends say it sounds like a Harley when I get on it.
