After not being started for a few weeks, I started my 98 2500 5.9L gas engine and quickly shut things down when I realized I had a frozen pulley. The alternator was frozen, but I was able to free it with some penetrating oil and a long wrench on the pulley nut. It now turns fine.
1) is the alternator likely ok, or should replacing it be on the short list? Any easy tests?
2) Is simply replacing the bearing possible, or do they use unservicable bearing?
