I have a 2000 ram 1500 and just recently had the trans rebuilt but now im not able to shift my truck into 4wd either 4h or 4l there is no indicator light registering that its ingaged and do not know if it would have anything to do with having the tranny rebuilt. Any suggestions???

Check that the vacuum switch is connected on top of the transfer case.

Dont mean to sound stupid or anything but what should i check for with the connection, is there any hoses that might be connected to it that i should check for rotting or broke lines, ect? Not too good with knowing this 4wd stuff never had to mess with it before.

Check this area in the pics the red and black lines. Could also be your vacuum switch but check here first.

On the transfer case behind the transmission, on top between the body and the case, there is a connector with 4 vacuum lines attached to the back. That is supposed be attached to a vacuum switch between the front driveshaft and transmission towards the top of the transfer case. There is only one way it will go on flush to the connector, otherwise the vacuum will be mismatched. Check that connector and another single vacuum line that is closer to the transmission up top than it is to the front driveshaft, but still in the same area.

Okay so far im still stumped althought i think its a vacuum thing because i changed the actuator out and still nothing. So i call a 4x4 shop and they said to che vacuum lines and i pulled them back at the cross member and am only getting vacuum from one line (red one) and do not know if i should try changing the transfer case switch. But im really not shure.
