Ohh well that explains a lot. Mighr as well wait on a few other mods I planned on getting, and get that first then. Any ballpark on price?

~$550 for just the manifold. There's also an installation kit, gaskets, bolts, etc that you need.
P5007852 is the intake manifold
P5007638 is the installation kit

Awesome. I swear man, I have so many different things going for this truck. I just don't know what I want first. It's a tossup between the intake manifold and the electric fan conversion. My gasket hasn't blown yet, but we all know that's a given and inevitable.

Oh and merc225hp, my tire size is 265 70 16. I'm going to keep the size. If anything might get a staggered wheel set. But keep the same tire height.

If your sticking with that size of tire I'd get a set of 4.10s for the rear. 4.56s would be to much but I think you'd be really happy with the 4.10s thats what I'm running now on and my rear tires are only about an inch taller than yours.

As for highway mileage, I actually got better mileage with the 4.10s this year on my roadtrip to ohio compared to my old 3.55s last year. I know we have different engines but the final drive ratio for both are transmissions are almost the same. So I would imagine the results would be similar.

Oh and did I mention how much more fun the 4.10s made my truck? :D I only wish I had've done them years ago! By far one of my favourite mods I've ever done to the truck.

I was thinking 3.73's but wasn't sure how it would pan out. I used to have a mild modded 3.8L Mustang with 4.10's that thing was almost a beast lol. Didn't have much torque though.

Besides the fact that I don't think they even make 3.73's for these rear ends it wouldn't be much of a difference than the 3.55's you have now. Probably hardly even enough to be worth the time or money spent.

I'd go to at least 3.92 and get either a Detroit tru-trac or some sort of LSD put in there while your at it.

I'm definitely getting an LSD. I can't pull out anywhere without that one damn tire spinning it's ass off. A buddy told me his 2G has a 3.73. Must not know what he's talking about. I wouldn't mind 4.10s or better just for that acceleration, I just don't want to be cruising at 70 hitting 3k or over. I don't do a lot of highway running in this truck, but the little bit I do, I don't wanna burn it up.

You won't be anywhere near the 3k mark with 4.10's. I'd say you might be around 2500rpms tops.

Your overdrive gear is 0.69:1 in the 46re trans and mine is only 0.67 in the 545rfe trans (so basically the same) Saying this with 4.10s and a 31" tall tire running 75mph on the highway my truck runs about 22-2300rpms tops. So with your tires being around 30" and and a very slightly higher final gear you should still be under 2500rpms on the highway.

2500rpm isn't bad. I figured it would have been much higher. How is your acceleration off the line, assuming you have 4.10s?

Sir, That list of mods you put together cost more than a 408. A 318 will always be a 318. you out weighed him by 1000 pounds. 408's start at 480ft. lbs of torque. bite the bullit and wait.

But I don't wanna lol. I'm getting a 408 next year, but I'm building this 318. I'm not paying for it. So why not.

So is there a real noticeable difference between the mopar m1 and the Hughes intake?

I cant speak for the hughes at all, but I was debating on these two for a long time

I ended up going with the mopar m1, for this reason. Its a genuine mopar product. It really is a bolt on item, hookups for everything just like your original manifold

Im glad I went with the m1, no regrets here....

But can I ask, if your going with a 408 down the road, and your cousin is putting the 318 in his jeep, are you splitting the cost on these upgrades with him. Maybe you should ask him what direction he wants for the 318 if he will end up with it anyway.

My 2 cents, leave the 318 stock (other than a good tune up) and drive it until the 408. Save all your money for the 408, don't spend it on this 318 if its just going to be sold anyway...

but to each their own....

Well it's been rebuilt recently and he pretty much bought it. It's in my truck until he burns the motor out in his jeep. I'm definitely going with the 408. He's funding everything, and wants me to build it. So that's why I was looking for input on the subject of the 318. He wants it to have roughly close to 300 at the wheels. So that's why I'm asking about the upgrades.

I get what you are doing and it is your guy's choice as to what you do with your motors and trucks. When you pull the 318 you could always stroke that out to a 390, that will get him the numbers he is looking for. Me I will stick to my little 360 motors lol.

not a lot of difference between the 318 and the 360.

15 hp I think was the rated difference, but the 360 has more potential

if your doing that, id suggest the m1, keep it mopar when you can

some shorty headers would be good, biggest thing I think would be a new set of heads....

Im looking into this now for my 318, but I cant seem to find a good honest review on any cylinder heads

but id agree....split the cost or have him pay to have this 318 stroked to a 390 or so....you wont be dissapointed
