I have a 98 dodge ram 1500, 5.2 5 speed. When goin high in rpms at 3k exactly the truck missing and backfires really bad. But continues to keep goin up in speed and rpms, just misses bad. I cant figure it out. I have new map, tps, iac, cold air intake, headers, highflow cat and flowmaster, new o2 sensors, new plugs and wires, tb mod, 180 degree thermstat. All done about 4 months ago. Just started doing this last night. Any thoughts ?

It's possible your front O2 sensor is fouled out already from the burnt oil from the plenum.

My money is on plenum issues.

Nope, unfortunately once it's fouled up, it's done. I would take it out to see how bad it is though.

Im almost on E now, imma try n see if i put 89 in it if it will still do it. If it does, il do 93 this weekend. But i took the front 02 out n this is it. Its only couple months old. No codes at all besides target idle not set( from day 1 but check engine light isnt on, its from the plenum gasket. I idle at 900rpm and yes the cel does work).

So it still misses with 89 in it in 3rd gear 3k rpm. I noticed it misses mid to full throttle. If i feather the gas it wont miss at all or isnt noticeable.
