We have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab with 4WD. My husband recently had his V8 360 engine remanufactured and the mechanic who was helping him has had vehicle troubles and has not been able to assist in installing his engine. He has figured it out so far (BIG help from the service manual) except for two holes on the front of the block. Looking at the front of the block, the hole on the right is 1.6 inches in diameter and the one on the left is 1.2 inches in diameter. They are each located toward the lower part of the block.
Would they have something to do with the heating and/or cooling system, did they forget a couple of soft plugs or are we way off?
Thanks in advance. This forum has been a huge help for my husband lately.

Exactly where on the front of the block? We can literally throw all kinds of guesses at you but until we see pictures, it's going to be tough.

Thank you, that confirms what we were thinking. The guy at the auto parts store said the company that did his engine was supposed to include them. Oops! Guess they forgot lol.
