I have a 1999 1500 with a 360. I have a clogged cat and going to be replacing the exaust from the cat back and splitting the exaust out the back on a 45 degree angle. My question is since the cat has been clogged since I bought it. Is it still going to be a gutless **** until I rebuild the motor or is it going to have decent power?

Two Words.

Listen Closely

***** Ape

How fast do you move when you are horribly backed up?
Seriously?

Seriously, the truck can breathe in but cannot exhale out.

I understand that the clogged cat is robbing a massive amount of0 power I was just curious cause I have read online and some people say that the 360 is gutless unless you do a lot of work. Plus I'm running 35's with a 6" lift

The 360 isn't a bad engine, it's just made for pulling reliably, not going fast.

You wanna go fast you'll have to do some work. Such as putting the suspension and tires back to stock or re-gearing the axles to 4.56 gears.

Replace the cat, fix the plenum, tune it, put on a bigger TB and install 1.7 ratio roller rockers will be your easiest power mods you can do.

Ahh,now I see.
NO, it will never light up the wheels, leave long peel out marks or any of that.
the 360 is Mr Dependable, not Mr Blow my Socks off, you damn stud.

Nothing you can about it. throw and awful lot of money at that engine, guess what? Still gonna be slower than a Hemi and darmn near everything else, for that matter.

318 and 360 are the reliable, dependable work horses.
They are not the engines, any of used, back in the 70's, for THrills or Chills.

Compared to how the truck has been running, clean up teh cat and you will think you have a totally different truck but it is still not oing to get panties thrown your way.

Unless you replace that cat, it will be a pig no matter what you do, not to mention a plugged cat will cause other engine damage
