I drive a 2001 Dodge Ram Laramie 1500 5.2 318.. it needs a new PCM (part #79-8549V). I have already put on a few reman Cardone pcm's and haven't had much luck with them so i would like to try another brand. I have called nearly every salvage yard within 200 miles of me and cant find an orginal PCM that would work. My question is, does Standard Automotive, Mopar or anyone else make a PCM for my truck? I've looked around online and couldn't find anything. I figured one of you guys might know. Thanks!

The part number should look more like this one, 56040401AD. Have another look at the pcm and see if there is that style of number on it for us. Is it a fed or Cali truck, build date on the door jamb would also be a big help.

You can go right to the Dodge/Chrysler dealer for one of these, wallet gonna hurt though.

Explain whats going on that you keep needing pcm's.

I'm sorry I gave you the Cardone reman part #. The number off of the stock pcm is p56028544ab . I have put countless hours into trying to find out why my truck kept frying PCMs, I even had a few really good mechanics look at it and see if they could find anything. We never could find a good explanation. Well one day I was putting freon in my truck and noticed condensation dripping from the AC line onto the wiring harness as it plugs into the PCM. The wires were soaked. I was kicking myself for not seeing this earlier.. but I just don't use my AC enough to have ever noticed it. Anyway that problem is fixed and is no longer dripping onto the wiring harness. Now I just need to get a good PCM.

Ok I have come up with a limited set of pcm part number for you to look for. For some reason you have a very limited choice in this matter compared to other trucks of the same year and engine size.

2001 BR/BE 5.2L A5 50 ST EARLY BUILD

05018491AA
56028544AB
56028544AC

All those part numbers update to

56028544AD

Any of the four will work for you.

And its only $670 from Dodge lol.
