Your biggest bang lies in a tuner, you have the death flash 99% guaranteed. A tuner will get rid of this and alter your TQ management (very little in these years), fuel trim, timing and more. Next would be a set of 1.7 rr's or better a nice cam.

With this all said you should do a comp test on the motor before you get mod happy. Also a good A/F wideband gauge is nice to have and will help with getting your tune spot on.

Edit; With your truck and motor = 390 stroker kit.

http://www.campbellenterprises.com/3...roker-kits.php ok so I was looking here at stroker kits. I couldn't find any dyno results with the stroker kit. What types of gains am I looking at with the listed mods and the stroker kit? I've got roughly $5000 to play with.

Helped my son replace plenum gask on his 01 5.9. Took most of the day but replaced cam sensor, rotor, and cap. Also valve cover gask.Just got this truck short time ago. Thanks to the forum we were able to diagnose and fix it. Not sure if cat is plugged but ecm has death flash sticker.Think o2 sense is good (no code). Got plenum kit from Hughes. If I had extra intake pan I would have made my own. It's just 1/4 in alum.I'm new here so forgive my rambling.

So it sounds like if you reuse the stock plenum pan you should to shorten the bolts. It would make sense to me if you a thicker aluminum pan you do not need to shorten the pan bolts, correct?

As far as i'm aware, a thicker gasket or shortening of the bolts will suffice. I've heard of doing both.

All symptoms listed are symptoms my husband has experienced through the past few years which has led him to plans of sending his engine in for remanufacture. He thought he had blown head gaskets and used Blue Devil a few years ago, which stopped the water consumption and noticeably slower the oil consumption. If his heads were cracked instead of blown gaskets, would the Blue Devil have helped this as well?

Technically it shouldn't have had an effect on oil consumption but I've seen weirder things.
