Thanks for this thread and info guys.

Question I saw that the roller lifters are recommended because they can be clogged and dirty. What extra step is involved with swapping in new ones? I haven't torn into my 5.9 yet, but pretty sure the rollers have the pushrods holding them in. If that is the case how do disconnect the pushrods and make space to move them?

Rockers are held in by a single bolt for each one. 1/2" socket if i remember right. Generally Harland Sharp rockers are recommended because they're plug and play.

It's not something I'd worry about unless you're wanting a little more ***** out of the truck.

Maybe change the “beer keg” intake gasket out for the Hughes intake kit, which replaces that thin steel pan with a thicker aluminum plate.

Or look at Hughes’ AirGap intake, which seals the whole component.

Is this manifold plate still available from Ebay? A Canadian vendor on Ebay?

Bonus question: What is the best gasket to use (which is regardless if I'm re-using the original steel pan or aftermarket aluminum pan - that shouldn't matter right) ?

The Felpro is supposed to be the best I read, but is it metal re-inforced? Is there a metal-reinforced gasket for this?

Mancini Racing (800-843-2821) has a GREAT repair kit for this! It's a 1/4" aluminum plate with all required hardware and realy nice gasket. The gasket I used when I did mine in my old engine was just a cheap cardboard thing. Thankfully I don't have to worry about this gasket anymore as the crate engine I swapped in has the M1 single plane "tarantula" style intake.
