Hi. I have a 1998 ram 5.9l that is using a lot of oil. It doesn't smoke and doesn't appear to be leaking. I pulled the air intake and looked in the intake but there was only a couple of drops of oil in it. It was actually really clean inside. Any suggestions on what else to check?

My automatic suggestions are a leaky plenum or valve seals. The plenum can leak and suck oil without even showing it in the intake, so that's a major possibility.

Check your PCV. They will definitely cause oil usage. Be sure to buy the Mopar valve and not an off brand; it DOES make a difference. I have personal experience of my 290,000 mile 5.9 using a quart every 400 miles until I got rid of the new oreillys valve and replaced it with a Mopar. Now it doesn't use hardly any oil.
