Hello,
I am looking into a new exhaust with stock headers. what is the best inside diameter for the 5.9 magnum? also, has anyone gone with a borla muffler? trying to get some ideas of the sound.
Agreed with Dodge Dude it depends on what you have done/plan to do with your engine and what other exhaust parts you have. If you're not going with a serious build, you just want something that will give you good flow and sound, 2.5 inch piping is probably good. I would highly suggest this cat/pipe that Flowmaster offers. 2.5" stainless piping and a high flow cat with bungs for your 02 sensors already drilled and threaded. Will bolt onto your stock headers, and all you need is to take it to an exhaust shop to have them run you some more pipe, a muffler (of your choice), and tip(s)
If you're interested that cat/pipe can be found at Summit for $184.15. Part number 2030005
Somewhere on this thread I have my exhaust clip. I have that set up with a Flowmaster Super 44

Spintech 9000^

Both mufflers were aggressive but were a different aggressive. The super 10 was raspy/aggressive/loud and the Spintech is deep/aggressive/ loud. I'm already happy with the Spintech and it was just put on today [emoji4]

2 flowmaster 10s in series?

My bad I should have explained. It's 2 Summit Racing "Race mufflers" both 3" center inlet and outlet. The first one is a single chamber so basically a Flowmaster 10 series directly followed by a two chamber muffler which would equate to a Flowmaster 40 or Super 44 Series. I cut the stock muffler out just after the rear O2 sensor and just before the rear hanger. The stock tailpipe is 3" as well makin the whole exhaust 3" minus the 6" between the cat and the rear O2 sensor. I cleaned out the cat as well.

It was pretty much just a cheaper way to get a 50 or 70 Series sound. It's actually a little louder than I wanted but it sounds pretty good.

I shouldn't make any difference but it is a 2002 2500 unlike the video title states. I put 2001 so people looking for second gens could find it easier.
