The kegger mod really only helps if you have supporting mods. Such as heads rockers and exhaust. Some have seen gains in throttle response.

Without head work and a set of headers, it is doubtful you will see any real gains for all the effort.

So what type of head work would you suggest?

port and polish at a minimum. How crazy are you wanting to get with your truck?

You could tear into it and do a cam, but at some point you have to ask if you are starting with the right platform for a full build. You're probably never going to be a 1/4 mile king with a 5.2.

You have a heavy 4x4 so you're looking for torque more than horsepower. I would recommend a set of gears if you really want some bang for your buck. You could be a serious tire shredding stop light terror that way.

I agree with frog. You can never go wrong with gears.
