my 81 does runs at about 3700 rpm at 95mph. i figure she could do about 120mph without overdrive before i might start doing some engine damage. if i had overdrive i would use it but i don't.
should be able to especially if you have larger tires.
your truck could be geared differently which is why it maxes out sooner.
have you tried pushing the button to turn overdrive off? that is what i do when i question whether i am in overdrive or not. since your engine is only spinning at 2000 rpm at 60mph that would make me think you are in overdrive and it works properly. if you were in 3rd instead of overdrive it would be running at about 2500 rpm at 60mph. 2000rpm in third is about 50mph.
sorry meant 50mph at 2000rpm. the calculator says 4th gear at 2000rpm should be 74mph
i think they calculator that you are using might be off. i am pretty sure you should be doing about 62mph in 4th at 2000rpm. you can try using the overdrive button at higher speeds. you will know if you are in overdrive or not when you hit the button at 74mph
