Ok, I know theres a TON of other "hard starting" threads...I've looked through them all, none seem like mine...I turn the truck over for 2 second..cranks....let off, crank again, fires right up...my battery was toast, so I upgraded to an 800 cca battery...still does it...warm it just starts right away...Ive owned the truck for about 1 1/2 and it has always done this...any ideas? Thanks!!

BTW tuned....no leaks at the plenum, so could it be the IAC?

ok, so far problem solved...maybe this will help others in the future...use a t25 remove both screws holding IAC (on the back side of the throttle body) in place...a can of carb cleaner (and a flathead screwdrive may be needed for hard built up carbon) towel, and qtips...clean thoroughly until you can see the brass shaft...push inner shaft down a bit (not alot!!! maybe 1/8 of an inch just to make sure the spring is still good) now thoroughly clean out the port it goes into with qtips ( it can take some time for this part)...reassemble, should be good to go! after i did this, reconnected the batt...key in...1 1/2 cranks fired right up..

Ive had this same problem on my 99 5.2 too! Its really got me stumped. But today in school i tested the fuel pressure on the rail, and when its at key on, engine off, it jumps to 50-51, then slowly bleeds down to 0. I havent tried cleanin my IAC yet though either, I was actually thinkin about replacin the fuel pressure regulator. But ill try cleanin the IAC first and see what happens after that. Thanks for the thread!

ok my 2002 5.9 had a similar problem. crank key (couple seconds) let off crank again it starts. It ended up being a fuel regulator.

yeah, i think im gonna end up havin to replace that. But one day soon when its not too cold out, i gonna take off my IAC and clean that bc it wouldnt hurt to clean it anyway..and my truck sometimes gets a jumpy idle at lights and stuff too. But ill be in the market for a regulator in the near future.

Hmm be careful what "carb" cleaner you use as some aren't very friendly with sensor's. Use a sensor or fuel injector cleaner.
