starts then shuts off imediately

1997 dodge ram 1500 4x4 eclb, when I start the truck it will start and the shut down almost immediatly (within 2 seconds) but if I give it gas it will run. Any idea..hopefully not the fuel pump cause its got 28 gallons of fuel in it...

Would the IAC also cause the truck to (when at a redlight) idle up and then down then level back out, its done that to me a few times in the last month

Likely, yes. I would also look for vacum leaks to be on the safe side. But it sounds like your plunger is either dirty or sticking on your IAC.
BTW, don't buy a cheap *** Autozone or discount store IAC. They don't last. Buy a Mopar one in a Mopar box or bag.

i know i had a code come up before for incorrect purge flow but ever got around to checking it out

All done, i changed it out but because the dodge dealer was closed today and I need the truck tonight I had to go to Advance Auto and get the IAC, its a Borg Warner (bwd) all fixed (so far so good)

if it was your pump, pm me, I can tell you the process. just did it on my truck 2 days ago. had half a tank of gas so took the bed off vs dropping that much gas

what was yours doing when it went bad? unfortunately i just started it and it shut off immediately again, but earlier (not 2 hrs ago) it ran fine..
