I can get a Superchips flashpaq 3815 off craiglist for 150$, but will it work on my 97 ram 5.2? on their website it says 98-01 only but after doing some more research it says it depends on the computer? Also would it remove torque management and the death flash? Thanks guys.

Should ork. 96 is the questionable year. You probably don't have death flash. Unless you have a sticker on the PCM about a software update, you don't have it. Superchips isn't really worth it unless you can find it cheap. It will erase death flash but not torque management

Why is it that it's a good chance he does not have it???????? Explain please as all these trucks were subject to the deathflash

While all of the 97-01 trucks are susceptible to death flash, the tune itself didn't come out until late in 99. At that point most of the 97-98 trucks (depending on the owner) would have stopped being taken to the dealership for servicing and taken to the local shop or driveway instead since it was cheaper
Edit: just my theory

Yeah my 99 has a sticker right on the hood that says the PCM was flashed late that year. Most ive seen have it, probably not in 97 though, ive seen it on 99+ trucks mostly

Is this part of the ******* obd2 crap?

As mark said, the ******* hybrid OBDII/I is 96 only, but 97 has some odd things with it to where no one but SCT will make a tuner for it.
