I'm going to replace the thermostat when I do the plenum, I want to go at a cooler temp, thinking about 160. What's better though, 160 or 180?

Cooler as in 160? I would say little to none. Too far out of the normal operating temperature of the engine.

Lowest you would want to go is 170 and depending on the winters you may get a CEL for slow warm up.

Definitely do 180. You don't have a need for anything lower and you would regret a 160 in the winter.

Funny you mentioned this though as I just swapped a 180 in my truck last night and deleted the clutch fan.

And I went with 180, the truck was running over 200 on the way home earlier... way to hot i think

The 4th gens actually come with both an e-fan and a clutch fan. If you install a 180 and lower the factory e-fan settings with a programmer you can delete the clutch fan and it's parisitic drag on the engine.

Seems to be holding up fine. We'll see on Friday when I get to Vegas how it does there.
