I plan to install a trans temp gauge. Where do you guys have yours mounted and where did you put the sending unit for the gauge?

Im sure theres a plug on the trans somewhere to install it in. I drilled my pan on my mach1 and stuck it in there, which I will probably do the same on my truck as well. Im looking for an A pillar pod for my gauge.

I was looking at the pillar pod, the steering column shround, as well as possibly mounting it low on the dash between the seats where that plastic cover is over the ABS computer. I'm not sure what im going to do yet though.

The easiest way to get trans temp and a bunch of other inputs is to us the AeroForce Interceptor gauge. It simply plugs into the OBDII port and reads the vehicles sensors. It also has two Analog inputs so you can use the same gauge to read wideband (AFR) and something else like fuel pressure. I personally found this too busy for one gauge as I like to monitor Water Temp, Trans Temp, Fuel Pressure, AFR and whatever I have an interest n such as IAT compared to Ambient Air temp

Pretty cool but way more than i need for my 96 1500 All i want to do is monitor tranny temps before and after the installation of my 26,000 GVW tranny cooler. Im also running 35" tires so temps are a concern.

You could use a single electrical gage with two sensors and a toggle switch. Put one sensor before the cooler and the other on the return line. You could then toggle back and forth and see the difference.

I've got a pillar pod that holds my trans temp and wideband a/f gauge

For the sensor I added mine right into the return line from the trans cooler. I got the t-fittings to add it in-line from summit. I'd have to do some looking to find the part number again now though lol

This setup has worked perfectly for me since I installed it last year.

I take it you have one toggle switch for each sensor, the before and after? wired in to positive? good idea i actually think im going to do this. and how did you install the probes? curious as to how it is done and where people have put them for the best results

The toggle switches were for off road lights. The gauge only required 1 sensor. The factory sensor with 2 wires had to stay plugged in because the engine wouldn't run long without it.

I had to do mine twice. I first had it on the side of the pan and it was closer to the exhaust than I wanted it to be. So my second attempt I put the **** in the rear. This is good in my book as it is away from everything. I also did a drain plug.
On my 545 I used the Aeroforce Intercepter gauge and it just plugged into the OBDII port.

Can weld a **** in the pan, aftermarket pan, or hp to the trans pressure test port. Test port gives the best readings of the 3.

Edit: cam also splice into pre-cooler line. Best readings that way

I have Coloum pod. I like it. I taped into the tranny cooler line by the rad going into cooler. I find most high temps are when in overdrive I'm running 37s and I don't use overdrive anymore. Need to regear. Lol
