so as of now i have a catback exhaust system made by Dynomax. The system came on the truck when i bought it exactly how it is. It has a cat converter as well as a muffler but im not sure if it is a high flow cat or what type of muffler is on it. It sounds great at idle not too loud not too quiet it has a really nice deep rumble and i love it, but it just lacks some "umph" when you step on the gas. it doesnt sound quite right at higher RPM's and i want this baby to RAP when i hit the gas! i heard a guy who had a 5.9 and was running true duals and it sounded amazing! it had what i was looking for when he revved it up. so my question is if i go with true duals will my easiest route to go be buying a set of long tube headers? and will there be any problems swapping to long tubes? and is there any problems in general when swapping to true duals?

I don't know if long tubes will fit but I can tell you that doing long tubes and duels will cause a loss in throttle response and low end power. It will also cause a lean idle and backfiring if not done correctly

i wasnt sure if long tubes or shortys would be better, first im just gonna get a high flow cat and a glasspack to see if i like the sound better.

If you do duals I would not go larger than 2.25 dia and even that might be pushing it

You can go bigger if you run a Chokemaster....being they don't actually flow worth a damn. :laughing1:

Go with flowmaster super 10 if you want aggressive sound. I have the muffler 2 notches down and mine is pretty damn loud. Plus they are only like 90-100 bucks. You wont loose any throttle response and you wont break the bank.

For best sound, do 2.5" exhaust.

Take the time to read these articles, you will make a better exhaust decision and save some $$.

Trust me. You will not be disappointed with flowmaster. Id either get super 44 or super 10. By far my favorite purchase since ive owned the truck for almost a year and half now.

Most gas engines need about 2.2 cfm of exhaust flow per HP a pipe flows 110cfm per square inch. 2.25 pipe has a sa of 3.55 inches flows about 408 cfm so dual 2.25 pipe will handle just shy of 400 HP. Dual 2 inch is what you need. Don't over do it. You'll be sorry, I promise.

I have a si/ do super 10 on my truck, I love it! I have 2.5" pipe with no cat and shorty headers. I'd like to do true dual with super 10's someday.

dual 2? With mufflers, will sound terrible. 2.25" with Flowmaster is ok, but deeper rumble with 2.5" per side. And it wont kill lowend at all.

Well, assume most put mufflers on for sound. 2" will sound like a Honda with a glasspack.
Minimum I'd do is 2.25".
