Installed my CB set up this morning. It's a Cobra, I can't remember the model off the top of my head but its just a cheap basic model. Nothing to fancy or crazy. And also installed my favorite item, a pair of bright red Barjan 4ft whips. So on with the pictures.

A cb antenna gets its signal off of reflecting or bouncing the signal off of a flat surface, in this case the bed. So if I were to let's say mount only the left one the signal it receives would be predominately from the right. The second covers signal from the left that way doubling my signal area. I could actually get the same effect mounting one in the dead center of the bed but that would just look goofy.

I suggest a cb to anyone, most offroad parks require them, in an emergency you don't have to worry about no signal or battery, and my house has a base station if the wife needs to get ahold of me when I'm in town. And of course giant whips look cool. They are easy to install and usually you can pick up a used one for 10-15 bucks.

Agreed, id like to have one. I've been way out in the middle of nowhere in my buddies jeep and I've thought what would happen if we got completely lost or the engine blows up... do we just become mountain people and live off the land? Also I've heard of such a thing as trail pirates.

Since we're all talking about these things, I got one out in the shop just sitting there. Not sure if it works or not but everything's there so I don't see why it wouldn't. Make an offer on it if anyone's interested.

I got mine at a place called Milan surplus. Obviously its only in milan, bigger truck stops have them, and also 5 footers. I do hear rumors of a 9 footer but i can't confirm or deny that fact. But I want em.
