CB's come in handy when you're stuck in traffic, you can radio the truckers and find out what happened, where to exit, etc. The BF had one running his radio and the other runnin his CB as well, worked great

Dual 3fts here. I live between the coal mine and the power plant so it's pretty entertaining in the morning

I'll bet it is. Sometimes the cb is better than the radio. I'm gonna be upgrading the whips sometime in the next month. Got my eyes on a set of 6 footers I found at the cb shop.

I am in the process of making some sort of mounting bracket for mine. Ramhunter9, I really like the way yours is mounted and am fairly sure I could fabricate something like that to mount to the middle seat frame

That's what my girlfriend says, she gets a kick out of listening to hers on the way to work.
I couldn't imagine having 6fts lol I see trucks around here with them but see the 102" whips more often lol. Way more then I need haha

I think if I had bigger than 3ft it wouldn't fit in my garage.

While the front bed corners are the coolest place to mount your antennas it's the worst (anti-flame suit on) spot due to the ground plane of the roof. I've never been able to tune one, much less two antennas in that spot.

So I've decided to mount a 102" whip in the back bed corner. Function over form this time.

With my 3ft they are about an inch or two over 7ft
I'm not really looking for the ultimate performance or I would go with the quarter wave off of a better spot.
I only have a uniden 520xl so obviously I'm not to serious about it. I get about 3 miles range out which is more then enough for me, I mostly use it for wheeling, driving in packs with friends, and trying to keep a heads up what's in front of me

Since were all sharin here haha i got a Cobra, not sure of the model, but i have that and a 4ft Wilson antenna mounted on my toolbox on the drivers side. I thought about doin the dual whips but im not sure that im goin to yet. Plus, my CB has a bit of a ground issue lol its grounded right to the battery, but i get all the motor noise and power locks, windows, horn etc. Just about everything interferes with it haah ill have to grab a pic of the CB tomorrow though..

What dictates the range of a CB? Is it the length of the whips or the CB itself?

It's the cb mostly but high quality antennas help. A cb is designed to have a 4 mile range but they can be nodded (illegally) for more range

No but the fcc frowns upon it. And I wouldn't take a modded cb to a cb shop either. I think ramhunters cb is nodded tho he could probably shine more light on it.
