I am new to this forum. I have a question about my truck, I have a 2016 Ram 1500 Bighorn quad cab. I need to install an electric brake control and would like to know if it has the plug under the dash to plug it in to, the truck has a 7 way plug on the rear bumper. Any help would be useful.

Your truck is actually prewired for the factory brake controller. It's a plug and play install but you will need to have the dealer install the sales code in order to for it to work. The sales code is simply the dealer enabling the option in you BCM (Body Control Module) so it will recognize the brake controller. The factory controller is nice. It's integrated to your trucks speedometer and shows your settings in your display if you chose. If you look at the bottom left of thus picture it's is the factory brake controller in my truck.

I would go with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3, its way superior to the factory unit and will cost approx half (approx $150)

Thanks for the information, I already have a Tekonsha Prodigy P3. Will the dealer still have to program the Body control module for the P3 to work?

I installed a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller #90195 from etrailer.com. They have a good install video that would be good for you to watch.

Yes, there is a factory plug that the Prodigy plugs into, no wiring to install, cut or splice.

No, I did not have to have any dealer involvement. Plugged in and worked properly. I believe dealer involvement is required only if you install a factory control.

Thanks for all the help. I found the plug under the dash. Now I will have to order the 3024-P wiring harness.
