I have a black box under the steering column, no brand name on it. I have a key fob with a ram emblem on it. Does anybody know if it's factory installed? The wire splices do not look factory. Is it possible to remove this without causing some type of issues? Thank you.

Can you get some pictures? I'm not familiar with a black box under the steering column directly, but there are some other things nearby. One being the CTM, that is kind of to the side of the steering column.

As for the keyfob, i'd have to see a picture, there are a ton of different models that have been used over the years.

Hopefully the pics uploaded. It was in the right side, lower steering column. The splices are not factory.

Thats a mess. Thats not factory as you guessed. I have no clue what that is brand or model wise. What does the front of the remote look like, the back side is shaped like the factory fobs.

If you want to remove that black box, you'll need to get the model and or brand off it and try to find an installation manual to backtrack through. Some systems have you cut wires and splice the module in between the cut, some just require a splice into the wire without cutting it apart. Its difficult to remove security systems without causing problems without taking the time to study the system before messing with it, or having an install manual.

This one looks pretty basic, it certainly can be removed without causing the vehicle to stop functioning.

I could trace the wires and if need be use QUALITY butt splices to repair the existing wiring. I needed some assurance this can be reversed. I hate when people screw up a good thing. Thank you.
