I have a 99 ram with a new stock headlight assembly, and a pair of HID bulbs that run at 95c which is 203 degrees fahrenheit. Will it melt my headlights?

Seems awfully hot for HIDs, but you should be more concerned about getting pulled over for illegal lights as non-stock HID retrofits are illegal in most states and HIDs in the stick housings will blind other drivers.

So what do you suggest?

So what do you suggest?

I would suggest getting a set of projector housings that are able to run HIDs.

I say "are able to" as not all housings can physically fit the HID bulb without the tip touching the lens and burning it.

And i'm not real sure what modle HID's I have? I got them with the truck.
Xentec:
Voltage: DC 9V~16V
Output: 35+-3W
Temp: -40c~+95c

So any help with finding out what model these are would help me a lot too!

I agree with Dodge Dude. A good set of projectors will help. I have dealt with Retro Shop and they really know their stuff when it comes to HIDs.

Op have you looked at installing a set of Sport headlight housings? About the best headlights there are for our 2nd gen trucks with none of the HID headaches.

I have the sport headlights and its the best thing I ever did. During the winter I drive home from work in the dark everyday. And going for regular to sport lights with dual silverstar bulbs for high and low beams was amazing.

You should see what they are like with the PIAA xtreme white bulbs in the Sport housings and the fog lights just amazing.

I've had PIAAs in all my other trucks. But now with 2 kids couldn't justify the cost. So got the silverstars on ebay for next to nothing. And once I wired up the relay's I think these are actually brighter then the PIAAs I've had.
