I have the infinity sound system in my truck .
Each speaker has its own amp hooked right on it .
Most people cut and add new wire .... well I did some experimenting and came up with a good way to replace the speakers with aftermarket and still get use out of the amp .

First take your panels off .. unscrew the speaker and you will see a front door 6x9 wrapped in a hard shell ... this is the amp .
Take a tiny screw driver and pop the shroud off . Under this is the infinity amp .
Next take the 2 bolts that hold amp on to the speaker off .
Unplug the red + and black -

Next as you can see from the pics you will have the amp .. I mounted it out of the way so the window would not hit it . Drill 2 holes and attach on the inside of the door .

So now you only need to plug in the red and black to the new aftermarket speaker and still maintain the infinity amp on them .

The oem speaker with the shroud on it ... under it is the amp and all the wires are already attached

With the cover off ... trash that wont need

Amp mounted in the door and all that is left is 2 wires pos and neg .. hook to new speaker

The beauty of this is no more cutting or wire running .. or just plain ol getting rid of the amp ... the more power the better

Oh .. and have 26 of these before you start .. dam door tabs

Also ...

If your vehicle has the Infinity system, you'll connect the blue wire from the new wire harness to the amp remote wire from the new receiver. There also may be a second wire, usually green/black, attached to the factory radio chassis with the braided strap. If so, this is the ground for the Infinity amplifiers , and it must be attached to the braided strap and the replacement receiver's ground wire.

Luke I went with the Clarion CZ101 .. nothing fancy

yea on the 3rd gen there is one amp and i believe if you want to keep using the amp but replace the speakers you want to get 2 ohm speakers.
