the PO of my truck put in the infinity tweeter pillars, but they aren't hooked up b/c he wasn't sure if they needed a crossover to protect them from the lows.
does anyone know? I'd like to hook them up when I get a new HU.
I already have a small powered sub I phad in my jeep that I want to put under the center seat for lows.

Mine are still unhooked from when I took out my stock speakers. I plan on running the tweeters of the HU, the other speakers are hooked up to a 4 channel. I don't really need the tweeters as the Cerwin Vegas I put in the doors work great.

I used the stock tweets in the door pillars with my aftermarket HU . But I still retained the infinity amps that have the crossover to them already in it

Question about the AMPS

I have the infinity sound system in my truck .
Each speaker has its own amp hooked right on it .
Most people cut and add new wire .... well I did some experimenting and came up with a good way to replace the speakers with aftermarket and still get use out of the amp .

First take your panels off .. unscrew the speaker and you will see a front door 6x9 wrapped in a hard shell ... this is the amp .
Take a tiny screw driver and pop the shroud off . Under this is the infinity amp .
Next take the 2 bolts that hold amp on to the speaker off .
Unplug the red + and black -

Next as you can see from the pics you will have the amp .. I mounted it out of the way so the window would not hit it . Drill 2 holes and attach on the inside of the door .

So now you only need to plug in the red and black to the new aftermarket speaker and still maintain the infinity amp on them .

The oem speaker with the shroud on it ... under it is the amp and all the wires are already attached

With the cover off ... trash that wont need

Amp mounted in the door and all that is left is 2 wires pos and neg .. hook to new speaker

The beauty of this is no more cutting or wire running .. or just plain ol getting rid of the amp ... the more power the better

Oh .. and have 26 of these before you start .. dam door tabs

I notice that the amps also contact a plate on the speaker body. I assume this to be a ground of some sort. Have you had any issues at all. Also just from my own experience you might want to figure out a way to water proof the amp. I lost one of my amps and a speaker to a leaky door seal.

Thanks for the good info. Factory Infinity speakers and amps are hard to find.

i to have done this but my aftermarket hu when i turn it up the factory amps cut off so i have to lower the volume. a shop told me that the problem was the head unit is stronger then what the amp can handle.

My passenger side door speaker goes in and out. More often out. Thinking the amp is failing. Should I just grab another speaker/amp combo from the pick n pull?

You are far better off to toss the infinity stuff in the garbage, and replace with quality aftermarket audio speakers/amp.

I completely deleted my Infinity audio system, and couldnt be happier.

here is the end result...
