I fount a remote start system that uses my factory keyfob, but it requires a signal from the factory system. Once wired in, I should be able to press the lock button twice and the truck will start. Any idea which wire I would want to tap into?

Here is a link to the directions included with the system I bought.

On top of this, can anybody show my the module that controls the keyless entry? I have factory key fobs, but under the dash I see a module with DEI on it and an antenna along the top of my windshield that also says DEI on it. It doesn't look factory to me, like it's aftermarket. Might not even be doing anything at all, but any Ideas? I'm going to dig into it tomorrow, weather permitting. But I need to see what the factory module would look like.

a quick google search suggests that that dei is a kit by VIPER maybe all you need to do is get the part number off it and get a remote for it.. may be a keyless entry may be a remote start! if so bingo! lol

I'll have to see what's connected to what, because it's weird to me to have that in there, and have factory remotes, and have every thing work as factory. Even the little red led in the overhead console.

I figured out that the module I found in my truck is a DEI Valet Model 551R remote start module. Pretty much just need the fob for it, but I don't want that. So I will rip it out and wire the new system in so I only have the one factory fob.

The valet module has an antenna connected to it to extend range. Any idea if I can connect that into my truck's factory system? I also figured out that the RKE system is integral to the central timer module. Now I just need to figure out which wire to use as a signal.

And, I'd like to boost the range somehow. If possible.

you may be able to look up ways to boost radio frequency.. i think thats what the factory uses don't think its infrared

Any idea which wire I want to connect to? Which ever wire will have a signal when I hit the lock button on the keyfob.

You sound a little green on the mobile electronics front.
Why not just get another remote for the viper.
The remotes are cheap and tiny.

Im picky about a lot of things. I'd just like the fact that I have a favtory fob and use it to start the truck. That's all. I know what im doing with this stuff for the most part. I can and will figure it out, just wanted to ask in case somebody had a quick answer.

I have the answer.

The door locks are a one wire multiplex system.

Purple/dark green
Lock is neg pulse through a 820 ohm resistor.
Lock is neg though a 330 ohm.

Must use two relays.

I figured it out! Works perfect. I forget which wire it is, but I have to go back and neaten it up, so I will let you know what it was.
