yes or no to mounting the amp here? think I'll run into heat issues?

You would have to take out your seat to adjust anything on the amp. Do you have room under the driver seat to mount it?

Driver seat is best for the 2nd gen rams.

ended up with under the driver seat. I agree that is the best place because there's already a slit in the carpet to run wires under the carpet to the door sill. thanks guys! almost done

Run down to an auto parts store and get some Dynomat for that cab wall. You'd be amazed what a difference even a couple pieces makes.
(I did 2 layers over everything, WOW!)

yeah it ended up fitting really well down there and running the wiring through that slit made it easy.
