peak power doesnt mean much its all about the rms, amp depends on brand, alot of amps dont do rated power, and depending on box sumtimes you cant run full rms to the subs with out them bottoming out, so to answer question 1000 watt amp will work with 800 or 1000 watt sub just set the gains right and you will be fine

amp is 50w x2 at 4 ohms and 75w x 2 at 2 ohms and I will have to double check but I think the sub was 250w rms max

under power a sub doesnt hurt the sub, its using a too small amp and cranking it all the way up so it clips that burns the sub up, as long as the power is clean you are fine thats why its better to use a bigger amp and keep it turned down then you get true rms that is clean power to the sub

dvc doesnt sound any different just gives you different wiring options, if you got the money check out dc audio they got the best 8" subs around expensive but worth the money but not that familure with 8s in general, google is your friend
