I was about to replace the speakers in my back doors (2001 Ram 1500 Quad Cab), Crutchfield said I needed 6.5's. I have read in Dodge forums, including this one I think, that it takes a 5.25 inch speaker. To clear the air, and to make things a little easier for guys building a system in the future, what would it take to get a Second Gen Speaker Size sticky posted? Such as the front and rear speaker sizes for the quad, club and single cab. I think it would be useful info. Thanks guys

Trick question! On mine, (99 1500 ext cab) It called for 5.25s However I also bought 6.5's. And they both fit (the 6.5s) just need different holes drilled. So as of right now I have 4 speakers in the rear doors of my truck :p

I bet thats LOUD! It sounds like a pretty cool setup. If I can fit 6.5s I'd love to do it.. I'd just like to know what size I need and have the new speaker in hand before I take the door panel off so I only have to do it once.

I already placed the order for the speakers (6.5's) which will be here in a few days. I took the rear door panels off and the stock speakers were 5.25s. I'm not real sure its going to be possible for the bigger speakers to fit in the smaller space. I hope I didn't just waste money on those bigger speakers. Has anyone done this before?

Mine were apparently 6.5's stock (infinity system) in the back, I got 6 3/4's to fit just fine with a little drilling (got some Infinity 6032cf's).

When Crutchfield lists compatible equipment, they are saying it will bolt right in, sometimes with an adapter plate that they also supply. I would not worry about the existing 5.25 you are reading, Crutchfield is pretty good with that stuff.
